Too Much Carbon
Artist's Point of View

The shores of Lake Michigan, the coast of Maine, and the path along the ocean from Whitby to Ravenscar on the Northern Coast of England are three of my favorite places in the world. I enjoy the sounds of the waves when they are quiet and also when they are crashing against the rocks during a storm. I love what I see and hear in all of these wonderful places, but I am afraid of what I don’t see or hear. Rachael Carson studied the oceans and gave us a warning in the seventies. Since then, we have found that the oceans are taking in too much carbon dioxide and this is having direct and indirect effect on organisms and their habitats. As the oceans continue to take in more carbon dioxide will the organisms adapt and survive or will some of them lose their ability to make their shells and have devastating effects on their habitats?
